My work.

Name: Elizabeth Flanagan
Title: ‘the eyes are the window to the soul’ - Unknown
Statement: Drug addiction is a complex disease that affects both the addict and those who love them. The baby forms in my work are to portray the innocence in us all. I have removed some of their eyes to depict the loss of a person through misuse of drugs. Through my work I hope to demonstrate the physical and mental deterioration that narcotics have on the human form.

This artist is by far my favourite out off all the artists I have researched.

"The sculptures I create focus on human psychology – stripped of context and rationalization, and articulated through animal and human forms".
This is just apart of a statement of her work on her web site. I can't compare this artists work wit anyone's but her work is realistic with a twist. I also think her statement is well write and worth a look.

"Gravity in this context serves as a metaphor for personal responsibility, and the stress we encounter in present society".

This is a small part of his statement, I like his concept and I think his statement is well written. I can't relate anybody's work to his.

http://www.andrewcasto.com/ This is his web site address, The way he displays might give us all a different perspective for our own exhibition.

Drug addiction is a complex disease that overcomes both the Addict and those who love them.
Through my work I want to show the physical and mental deterioration.
Colour used is to evoke symbolic meanings.

This is her own web site http://www.ivarsdotter.com/ I found that her work on this web site to be more interesting than that on artaxis, but I couldn't upload the images onto this blog.

I think the way she displays here work is very interesting a might give us all ideas for displaying.

Tiffany Carbonneau

Tapped Out.

Hide and Seek Series: Snack time.

Simon Says . . .

I think of Catherine in 4th years work when I look at these.
The way she has displayed her work is interesting and has given me other ideas to display my own.
The only connection I see in her statement is that she use's projections a lot and Dominic may want to have a look at what she does.

Her work is nice, It wouldn't be really my sort of thing but it's nice.

"My breath is caught by the fluid, visual patterns of connection and transition that surround us – light reflected against wind and water; flocks of birds in flight; social network diagrams, neural pathways, cellular clusters."
I can't link her work or statement to anyone at the moment, but I do like the way she has wrote it.

My Work

I decided to use a mould from a past student and some of my own, as my concept is different.

The dolls I have casted represent newborn babies, reminding us of how fragile new life is and how gently they must be treated and cared for.

I am now casting dolls in porcelain to open new chapters of exploration.

Through the process of play, my figures experiment with objects that affect their appearance and bodily movement.

Jason Burnett

He speaks about his influences from his adolescence, relationships, and pop culture.

"I aspire to create vessels that celebrate vulnerability and beauty, that sugarcoat life’s escapades and serve as a bridge between the real and surreal."

I like his work he has a nice unique style, child like.

The only one I can link his work to would be maeve, he mentions in his statement that his subject matter is home.

"A Fish Story", 2010

I know Emma O'Toole is doing hands so he maybe of some relevance to her. He also uses molds so would be relevant to Myself, Maeve, Danielle, Robert, Domnick and Gillian. He seems to work on manipulinating casts

Alot of his work is based on religion even though there is no metion of this in his statement.
